Special Birthday Celebration Market

In November 1998 the very first market, that eventually morphed into the Usk Farmers' Market, took place in a small Monmouthshire village becoming one of the earliest of its kind in the UK and certainly the first in the county.  The market grew rapidly in the first years and has hosted some of the finest local produce to be found in the area.  Robert Boyle (Carrob Growers) and Caroline Holt-Wilson (Monmouthshire Turkeys) where both present at the original and will be with us on November 3rd. They both, perhaps, deserve medals. The celebration market will be augmented by face painting and several competitions for the younger ones as well as a lucky draw to win some goodies from the market. Kate and Viv will be repeating their much acclaimed and popular breakfast which features a variety of market products. The Mayor of Usk, Alec Leathwood, has kindly agreed to make the lucky draw and to award prizes for the competition, and also to officiate the planting of a tree to mark the historic occasion.  Permission is yet to be granted and the date is not favourable for tree planting which will take place early in the new year.
