Penrhiw Farm Dispatch June 12th 2019
Hello. This cold and wet weather is hampering all our farming plans - we can't get on with the hay and silage harvest and we can't shear the ewes. We were spoilt last summer - we mumped about how long the dry spell lasted but it certainly allowed us to get on and make fantastic June hay. No hope of that in 2019 at the moment. The temperature at Penrhiw early Monday morning was 4.5C - not quite flaming June!
On the plus side, the grass is growing and the arable crops look great.
Markets this weekend: Rhiwbina on Friday, Usk on Sat and Riverside on Sunday.
