News from Penrhiw Farm

Better late than never !   Not sure what has got in the way of a timely email / update - just difficulty fitting everything in on time I think !  So it's the usual reminder - Rhiwbina on Friday and Usk on Sat.    NO Riverside on Sunday due to the Rugby World cup.  Full range of meat at both markets and available at the farm - local deliveries by arrangement.   Beef, lamb, pork, mutton and chickens as well as faggots and sausages.
A few offers in the run up to Christmas:
  • ½ lambs packed for the freezer for £50 - ideal for Christmas presents or just to have "something" in the freezer for those unexpected guests !  Packed to your requirements and available right up to Christmas Eve.
  • sausage packs        3 kg of sausages for £20   (normal price £28.50).  Choose from pork and leek, pork and apple, pork with honey and mustard, spicy pork or plain pork.  Packed in 500 gr (or less if requested)
We are taking orders for Christmas.  There will plenty of big chickens and we have a few bronze free range turkeys - all free range and organically reared, of course.  Plus the usual beef, lamb and pork.  Order early to help me plan  ...!
We are appreciating this lovely weather.  There is still some grass around the farm but we have just started to offer the cows some hay to fill them up.  As long as this continues they will stay outdoors.  Sheep sales are over for another year and our new ram purchases are waiting patiently to meet their ladies (about another 3 weeks so that lambing will start, for the main flock, at the beginning of April).    The large heap of well rotted farmyard manure is getting smaller - most of the hay fields now have a good covering which will grow in over the winter months.    Hetty, the foal, continues to flourish - she is grey now and a big girl.  She has a lovely laidback character and nothing seems to faze her.  Long may that continue .......
We will be in Riverside on the 25th Oct
